Acadience Data: Given by Mrs. Bliss. The Acadience Data, formerly known as Dibbels, was presented. The comparison from MOY 2020 (last school year) compared with BOY 2020 (this school year) for K-3rd grade was overly concerning. All testing metrics, including frequency and accuracy, showed that student performance in Reading had significant drops.
Mrs. Bliss and each team of teachers have come up with various strategies to help students regain what was lost during the soft-closure last school year, as well as preparing students to succeed this year. This data is indicative of why on-line schooling for elementary students does not close gaps or help students to retain information. Every minute counts during the school day. Although the testing results are grim, teachers and staff are dedicated to help students obtain grade-level success!
School Business: Given by Mrs. Breeding.
- Covid report to date – there have been no student to student cases. 10 students are on short-term online learning due to positive tests for parents. This is difficult because then student will be quarantined for 24 days.
- The Halloween celebrations were awesome. Party-in-a-box for the teachers was such a great help to the teachers and students had a great party! The Parade was a huge success even though the live-stream feed was not working, the recording was great! A bit of Normalcy was wonderful!!
- There are two new members of the Hooper Elementary Staff. Natalie Anderton is the new Counselor and Michael Calles is the new Art Specialist. We are so happy to have them at Hooper Elementary! The County Commissioners were integral in helping fund these new assets. If there is opportunity, please reach out and give them a big thank you!
- Long-term online learning has moved to the District level. This is a huge relief to teachers who have been over-worked trying to teach during the day and then spend hours at home trying to help on-line learners. Short-term online learners will remain with their teacher.
- The school is holding a Couch Potato Fundraiser and it will end Friday, 6 November. So far, $3,000 has been earned.
- The new furniture (desks and chairs) is here!! Everyone is so happy!
- If there is a soft-closure, students will be allowed to take home their Chromebook.
School Business: 6 January 2021 at 1:30pm in the gym.
