Hooper Elementary Community Council meeting minutes

In attendance:

Budget: Given by Mrs. Breeding.
2021-22 Trust Land Beginning Balance - $98,438.91 Current Balance- $89,361.43
2021-22 TSSA Beginning Balance - $94,522.00 Current Balance- $79,245
Around $4500 will be spent in Aide time. Newline Boards have been purchased with these funds. The goal is that
eventually every teacher will have a Newline Board.
School Data: Given by Mrs. Bliss and Mrs. Breeding. RISE data has not been made available yet. The following is the
Acadience data for K-3 rd grade for the 2020-21 school year.

 State growth goal is 60% of typical or better progress. Hooper Elementary is at 68%.
 Kindergarten had a 51% growth
 1 st grade in Correct Letter Sounds had a 7% increase from BOY to EOY. Progress growth was 47%.
 2 nd grade in Accuracy had 11% increase with a goal of only 3%. Progress growth was 75%.
 3 rd grade in Accuracy had 15% increase with a goal of 7%. Progress growth was 76%.

The progress growth goal is still 60% for K-3 during 2021-2022. By May 27, 2022 the Weber School District wants to
have a 17% increase from BOY to EOY in progress growth.
 Kindergarten from 62% at BOY to 79% by EOY.
 1 st grade – 48% in Correct Letter Sounds at BOY to 58% at EOY.
 2 nd grade - All students not proficient at BOY will be proficient at MOY as measured by NWF progress
(blending words).
# of 2 nd graders below benchmark on WWR (whole word reading): 48
# of 2 nd graders that are now proficient as of 11/15: 18
9 weeks left until MOY!
 3 rd grade - 53% proficient in accuracy at BOY to 60% at EOY.

All teachers will be taking Letters Training - a phonemic awareness and phonics-based system. Teachers will be going
through an 8-module system in a 2-year timeframe. This state mandated training will teach the science of reading so
that all teachers can better identify reading issues and be able to address it promptly.
The Early Bird program is working and student are dedicated to improve.
School Business: Given by Mrs. Breeding.
 Covid #s are dropping! Currently 3 students and 1 staff member have Covid.
 Wyatt Drysdale is a 2 nd grader that is suffering with cancer. The community is holding a fundraiser at the school
on December 11 th . There will be a corn hole tournament and silent auction. More information will be sent out.
 The school choir will perform for students on December 13 th . A choir concert will be held at Fremont High
School on December 16 th for families.
 There is a Community Christmas tree in the foyer of the school. Each ornament has needs for a family in the
community. Mrs. Anderton will send more information to parents.

 Fundraiser: The Wild Mustang Race. It was very successful and raised $12,000! Mrs. Breeding is writing a grant
through the Weber School District Foundation at the beginning of the year for $5,000. The bid for the electronic
marquee was around $23,000. Mrs. Breeding is going to approach the PTA to see about additional funding.
