MEET OUR NEW SCHOOL PRINCIPAL! 💙🐴💫
We are so excited to welcome Mr. Karlinsey to the Hooper Elementary family as our new School Principal!
His 25 years in education include: Teacher at Bonneville High School, Principal at Uintah Elementary and Plain City Elementary, Special Education Director, and HR Assistant Director.
Mr. Karlinsey's goal for Hooper Elementary is for every child to feel welcome and to help create a welcoming environment for others. He wants them to be able to learn at high levels and genuinely enjoy their experiences while they grow here at school.

Hooper Elementary had a memorable first day of school on Monday. A power outage occurred, which led to having a "lantern lunch" and no school the following day.
We are very proud of all our amazing students for being brave and resilient during this unexpected event. Also, all of our teachers and staff for jumping in and helping wherever they were needed.
We are so happy to be back together again and look forward to a great school year!

Dear Parents & Guardians,
Our crews are continuing to work on the electrical issue with the school’s main transformer. In the meantime, a large generator has been installed to temporarily provide power. This will allow us to operate the lights, essential kitchen equipment, security cameras, internet, and the phone system. Portable A/C units will also be placed throughout the building for a couple of days to bring down the internal temperature since the main A/C unit has been offline.
Classes will resume on Wednesday, August 26, 2026. As a reminder, the remainder of the week will follow an early-out schedule. We do not yet have a timeline for when the transformer will be repaired, but we are confident that the backup systems will allow us to safely hold classes while the work continues.
Regarding the missed school day, we are determining whether that day will need to be made up later in the school year. State law requires students to attend a minimum of 180 school days. We will keep you updated as we receive more information.
We appreciate your understanding and patience as we continue to work through this issue.

Those 5th graders who achieved the 40 Book Challenge were treated to a snow cone 🍧 from their teachers 😋 Way to read 5th graders!!!
Just Jumpin' Jump Rope team came and we had two fun assemblies! Mrs. Lees, Mrs. Werre, Miss Cross, Mrs. Mann, Mrs. Breeding, and Mr. Karlinsey got to show us their jump roping skills.
Mrs. Maw arranged for the Weber State Arts Department to come teach the kids about percussion! 🥁 The students got to learn about different rhythms, play the drums themselves, and had such a great time experiencing music in a hands-on way. Thank you to Weber State for such a fun and engaging visit!

Students used real menus to place orders and practice adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing decimals—all while having fun!
